So many ads here for recording studios. I know that all musicians enjoy recording. You've got a lot of choices: Do it yourself, record in somebody's home studio, record with a student in a recording school, go to a full-time studio. I've done all of these, too.
My studio is kind of different. I'm in a small, professional studio that is growing into a big studio. I'm doing this by low prices, hard work and excellent results. I've spoken with people that are in a band and can't get the right drum sound by recording themselves. I know what that's like. I can solve that. They've brought in tubas, sitars and choirs. No worries. I've spoken to rappers and singers that hate the sound of their own microphones, even if it's only for a mix tape. I've spoken to lots of rappers that are spending too much money for studio time, when they aren't really doing anything very complicated. They just need a great mic and some production help. I do that a lot. I've met singer/songwriters that want to capture their music in its best form. Professional quality, they welcome ideas about working the sound to build a song that they have only imagined so far. This is easy if you have the right tools - I do. Finally, I've met bands that have never recorded and they just want to get it done inexpensively and have it sound like a million bucks. I've totally been there. So, why should you bring your recording project to Garland Recording Studio? I know that you could record anywhere. I know that you are making a recording that you'll keep your entire life and this is extremely important to you. I've got the tools and the experience to get your project captured right. We'll do it all together; record, mix and master. You'll leave with a finished CD. My studio is in a commercial building near downtown Garland, the rent is not high, so I don't have to charge very much. I have a full time job with benefits already, so I don't rely on studio income to feed my kids. I don't have to charge you very much to keep the studio open. In fact, I price it at the very lowest hourly rate that I can - because I want the studio to stay packed with happy customers. I want somebody in there recording every night. That's the way I am building my business, and that's the way it has been for nearly two years in this location. I am still running at only $ 25 per hour to record, mix and master. What do you get for your money? Neumann microphones (U87Ai vocal mic, matched pair KM184MT mics, Sennheiser 421 drum mics, plus more). API preamp (API 512C) and API 550B equalization. Pro Tools, with WAVES Mercury and SSL bundles for effects. Need an amp or keyboard? I've got the best: Marshall tube (Triple Super Lead) amp and a Yahama ES8 Motif. 5 string Fender American deluxe bass guitar. Lots more instruments. I am careful to buy the highest quality studio equipment . I select tools that will result in the best quality recording. I'm not going to tell you that my vocal mic sounds just like a Neumann U87... You're going to be using a real Neumann U87, at a price you can actually afford. And there's nothing that sounds as good as this mic. You already know that. I work fast, and I am an excellent Pro Tools editor. We're going to get it DONE. Probably faster than you've ever seen anyone work in Pro Tools. I'd love to show you what I mean... how about a studio tour? I am a careful listener. If you have an idea, if you have effect that you like or don't like, I am working for you and will honestly work with you. I'm a grown up man, I'm going to treat you with courtesy and make sure you are getting what you want. I've got hundreds of happy customers that will confirm this, if you'd like. I can send some you phone numbers on request. Or just come out and visit the studio and see for yourself. Finally, I am a one man shop. I don't pay additional staff to answer my phone or record when I am not available. I don't have to pay anybody's salary. I record every single person that comes into my studio. Everything that is recorded at Garland Recording Studio reflects on me, and goes out the door in a way that I am proud of. I frequently run in to customers and friends all over Dallas, I often connect my customers with other musicians or venues and I value those friendships. I go out of my way to protect our relationship. That is a promise, and it's one that a lot of people enjoy with me. I'm glad to be a part of your success, and I want us to work together for years to come. I hope you'll take a minute to listen to the sample recordings on my studio's web site. http://www.garlandrecordingstudio.com I also hope you'll give me a call. Tell me about your recording project and I'll lay out a plan that will really help you get it done inexpensively and sounding professional. Thanks. -Tom Garland Recording Studio (214) 212-5532 http://www.garlandrecordingstudio.com • Location: Garland, TX mear Forest & Shiloh

Renaissance Rock band now formingposted: November 10, 2009, 05:39 PM

ITZA Mystery...
NEW PROJECT: In the process now (as of November 2009) of putting together a "niche genre band" leaning towards a Renaissance-Rock style and Band Image, similar to Blackmore’s Night. If you are not familiar with Blackmores Night, then follow this link to some You Tube Vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLXCeDKUkG4 Band Objectives are to develop and record our own original music, AND SELL IT, and also develop selected "cover music" for Live Performance at Pirate Festivals, Renaissance Fairs, and other selected venues, etc. YEP! We are looking to GET PAID. This is NOT a "bar band" in the traditional sense of the word. "The Show" (approximately 90 minutes),is under development, and will probably consist of about 40% original material and 60% "covers", arranged and flavored to suit the "Band Image"... "WE" are seeking out persons who play all sorts of instruments, and or sing. Currently have lined up, a female lead vocal, a lead guitar, rhythm/bass (utility player), a keyboard player... Still looking for additional players to fill in the holes: Percussion (traditional hand drums and/or a full kit), pipes, flutes, fiddle, mandolin, and any other exotic strange weird instruments as well as additional singers for leads/back-ups (male/female). YES... we will consider working long distance (over the Internet) with players/singers who want only to be a part of the recording process for original CD. REQUIREMENTS for Live Performance Band: 1) Please be 21 years of age or older... 2) Possess something beyond "beginner" playing skills... and have good quality stage gear. 3) You must also have TIME available, for rehearsals and at home practice time. 4) as well as having reliable transportation (and gas money)... 5) AND, you WILL have to "dress the part" for Live Performances. Rehearsal space is located in North Texas, near Gainesville, IN THE BOONIES. Interested parties who want to be a part of the Live Performance Band... ie...from UNT or the DFW Metro, South Oklahoma and surrounding areas, would have to "travel" for scheduled group rehearsals, on a weekly basis. Group Sessions will be held on a Saturday or a Sunday (or sometimes both). Please make contact HERE, if you are interested or have any further questions... Thanx • Location: N. TX, S. OK

We recently lost our excellent lead guitarist to a day job change. We play mostly classic rock, with some newer tunes. We do tunes by Dan Fogleberg, Moody Blues, Linda Ronstadt, Oasis, Doobie Bros, Joan Osbourne, Tom Petty, Steve Miller band, and many more. Band comsists of Tim - Lead and harmony vocals, lead and rhythm guitars, keyboard, sax and flute. Velia - Lead and harmony vocals, harmonica and percussion. Wade - Bass and lead and harmony vocals and Tj - Drums, percussion and harmony vocals.
We have a great place to rehearse with all-pro equipment including a sound engineer. Rehearsal is usually on Saturday night (until we gig) with an occasional vocal rehearsal during the week. We range in age from late 40’s to mid 50’s. Gigging will be only a few times a month at most. Rehearsal is in Northeast Fort Worth. We don’t expect to be the next big thing in the Metroplex, but we are a good band with an eclectic set list, and are easy to get along with and fun to be around. If you sing also it will put you at the top of the list, we try to put the band emphasis on vocals. If you are interested, please leave a short bio of yourself and a phone number, and I will call you asap. Thanks, Tj • Location: NE Fort Worth

I am a professional musician in the DFW metroplex, available for second services, early morning services, saturday services weekday services, etc. I play keyboard, teach choir parts, direct, and can sing tenor while playing as well. My heart lies with contemporary urban praise and worship (tye tribbet, isreal houghton, kirk franklin, fred hammond, etc.), but am not afraid to take it "back!" (i.e. traditional hymns, anthems, sprirituals, etc.) The church I belong to has service from 10am to 12pm or so on sundays, so i'm available any time before or afterwards on sundays. Like I said earlier, I'm available for saturday services, early sunday morning services, sunday evening services, weekday services, etc. I look forward to hearing from you!

Hey hey I'm a female singer, indie rock/pop, acoustic, experimental.. looking for a great band to work with. I don't play instruments although if you'd like to take the time to teach me a few riffs on guitar or some keyboard notes, I'm all ears!
I've been singing my life away.. previously singing for a coverband in Dallas for a little while, recently did some work with a little indie type rock band. Now I'm looking to make some original music with other passionate musicians such as myself. I'm interested in playing locally, traveling, who knows.. My influences are a cross between all of the following- Imogen Heap, Plumb, Tristan Prettyman, She and Him, Tegan and Sara, Blind Melon, Dido, Garbage, Lovedrug, Rilo Kiley.. Hit me up if you're looking to put something together or just looking for a singer with lots of heart. Thanks, AJ • Location: Dallas, TX

Gigging Variety Band Seeking Replacement Keyboard Playerposted: October 18, 2009, 10:32 PM

|
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Our variety band (with shows on the calendar) has to replace our keyboard player (he moved). We are seeking a talented keyboardist who can cover piano, organ, strings, brass, and synth parts – YOU MUST BE VERSATILE! Pro-level equipment required – in fact, we would prefer a multi-board player. Sequencing, backing vocals, and lead-line abilities preferred, but not absolutely required. If you can do all of this and play rhythm guitar, we will dub you King of the Band (which will basically mean nothing in reality, but sounds pretty cool in certain circles). You must be professional, dependable, drug-free, and willing to style yourself appropriately for gigs (youthful, current, well-groomed, not sloppy, etc…). Hippies need not apply. ABOUT US Our band covers material from the late-60’s through today; musicianship is EXCEPTIONALLY high, and we present a very polished, professional package (sort of sounds just like every other variety band out there, right?). Each of our sets is packed with stellar hits and designed for maximum variety – basically, the iPod shuffle is our favorite electronic device… We primarily differentiate our act by using pro-level equipment that allows us to perform songs as close to the original recordings as possible (both with regard to tonality and arrangement) and at venue-appropriate volume levels. WE GENERATE VIRTUALLY ZERO STAGE VOLUME AND OUR LIVE SOUND QUALITY IS VIRTUALLY UNBEATABLE. We can literally play in a private residence without the neighbors knowing we’re there, and people are amazed at our pristine-yet-live sound quality. If you’re interested, please drop us a line, and we’ll give you more information. Auditions will require a demonstration of your piano, organ, strings, brass, and synth chops. Thanks! BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! By the way, once this project settles back in, there may be an opportunity to participate in other projects. For instance, our guitarist/lead vocalist writes/performs original material (his work has already attained commercial radio and film soundtrack exposure). Also, we may put together unplugged shows for smaller venues, etc… • Location: McKinney/Allen
