A studio recording you can afford in Garland, Texas

posted: November 19, 2009, 05:42 AM

Replytomj@flash.net

So many ads here for recording studios. I know that all musicians enjoy recording. You've got a lot of choices: Do it yourself, record in somebody's home studio, record with a student in a recording school, go to a full-time studio. I've done all of these, too.

My studio is kind of different. I'm in a small, professional studio that is growing into a big studio. I'm doing this by low prices, hard work and excellent results.

I've spoken with people that are in a band and can't get the right drum sound by recording themselves. I know what that's like. I can solve that. They've brought in tubas, sitars and choirs. No worries.

I've spoken to rappers and singers that hate the sound of their own microphones, even if it's only for a mix tape. I've spoken to lots of rappers that are spending too much money for studio time, when they aren't really doing anything very complicated. They just need a great mic and some production help. I do that a lot.

I've met singer/songwriters that want to capture their music in its best form. Professional quality, they welcome ideas about working the sound to build a song that they have only imagined so far. This is easy if you have the right tools - I do.

Finally, I've met bands that have never recorded and they just want to get it done inexpensively and have it sound like a million bucks. I've totally been there.

So, why should you bring your recording project to Garland Recording Studio? I know that you could record anywhere. I know that you are making a recording that you'll keep your entire life and this is extremely important to you.

I've got the tools and the experience to get your project captured right. We'll do it all together; record, mix and master. You'll leave with a finished CD. My studio is in a commercial building near downtown Garland, the rent is not high, so I don't have to charge very much. I have a full time job with benefits already, so I don't rely on studio income to feed my kids. I don't have to charge you very much to keep the studio open. In fact, I price it at the very lowest hourly rate that I can - because I want the studio to stay packed with happy customers. I want somebody in there recording every night. That's the way I am building my business, and that's the way it has been for nearly two years in this location.

I am still running at only $ 25 per hour to record, mix and master.

What do you get for your money? Neumann microphones (U87Ai vocal mic, matched pair KM184MT mics, Sennheiser 421 drum mics, plus more). API preamp (API 512C) and API 550B equalization. Pro Tools, with WAVES Mercury and SSL bundles for effects. Need an amp or keyboard? I've got the best: Marshall tube (Triple Super Lead) amp and a Yahama ES8 Motif. 5 string Fender American deluxe bass guitar. Lots more instruments. I am careful to buy the highest quality studio equipment . I select tools that will result in the best quality recording. I'm not going to tell you that my vocal mic sounds just like a Neumann U87... You're going to be using a real Neumann U87, at a price you can actually afford. And there's nothing that sounds as good as this mic. You already know that.

I work fast, and I am an excellent Pro Tools editor. We're going to get it DONE. Probably faster than you've ever seen anyone work in Pro Tools. I'd love to show you what I mean... how about a studio tour?

I am a careful listener. If you have an idea, if you have effect that you like or don't like, I am working for you and will honestly work with you. I'm a grown up man, I'm going to treat you with courtesy and make sure you are getting what you want. I've got hundreds of happy customers that will confirm this, if you'd like. I can send some you phone numbers on request. Or just come out and visit the studio and see for yourself.

Finally, I am a one man shop. I don't pay additional staff to answer my phone or record when I am not available. I don't have to pay anybody's salary. I record every single person that comes into my studio. Everything that is recorded at Garland Recording Studio reflects on me, and goes out the door in a way that I am proud of. I frequently run in to customers and friends all over Dallas, I often connect my customers with other musicians or venues and I value those friendships. I go out of my way to protect our relationship. That is a promise, and it's one that a lot of people enjoy with me. I'm glad to be a part of your success, and I want us to work together for years to come.

I hope you'll take a minute to listen to the sample recordings on my studio's web site.

http://www.garlandrecordingstudio.com

I also hope you'll give me a call. Tell me about your recording project and I'll lay out a plan that will really help you get it done inexpensively and sounding professional.

Thanks.

-Tom

Drummer wanted to form an original rock band.

Replyviolet.george@gmail.com

Drummer wanted to form an original rock band. This is a brand new project and will also require a lead guitarist/ songwriting partner. A kickass bassist has already been added to the lineup. Basically I’m looking for a drummer that can not only write drum work for new songs but can also learn the songs already in our arsenal.. My strength is vocals and writing lyrics and melodies. Finished tracks can be heard at www.myspace.com/violetegeorge.

If you respond to this ad, you must be willing and able to take this project as far as it can go.
No Hobbyists Please. Also, no hard drugs.

Also, no one over the 35ish range please(unless you just look much younger than your age). I wish I didn't have to add that stipulation, but unfortunately this project's ultimate goal is to get signed and unfortunately record labels have a certain image they want to see before they are willing to invest in you. I wish that weren't so.

If you like what you hear and want to be a part of it feel free to send me a message either via MySpace www.myspace.com/violetegeorge or at my other e-mail address violet.george@gmail.com or call 214-717-2914. If you call and don’t get an answer, please leave a message on my voicemail with your call back number.

Thanks!

I recently moved to DFW from Seattle. Interested in joining or forming a top 40 cover band playing up-tempo, melodic pop rock and alternative rock dance hits from all eras, 60s to the present, disco included. I have professional gear, two drum sets, mics and a monitor. I know hundreds of songs, and can learn new ones quickly. I've been in cover bands in St. Louis, Atlanta and Seattle. I have a 9-6 M-F corporate job, so I'm only available Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays. I play a steady tempo w/ a strong backbeat, and know a lot of cool fills and beats. I don't over-play. I'm reliable and have a great attitude. Also available for fill-in / substitute work. References available from former band members. Colin

Melodic Metal

posted: November 9, 2009, 04:48 PM

Singer / Songwriter here. prolly wont find anyone on here but i'll try.

Looking to start (possibly join) a Melodic Metal band.

Influences that i'd like the band to sound like:

kind of a mix between certain styles of

Nevermore
Type-O-Negative
Godsmack
Dragonforce
System of a Down
Tenacious D
Alice in Chains
Skid Row

Yeah yeah, i know a mix between all those bands is REALLY hard to imagine...

basically, i'd like a very Heavy Metal core sound. with lots of melodic riffs within, like acoustic guitar, spanish sytle, asian, indian, persian, whatever sounds bad ass. very creative and not what people around here are used to hearing... now i dont want it to sound like some indian tribal chant or anything (no offense to native amercns) just a mix of stuff within the metal.

would like lots of guitar lead (shredding... but with direction and style)
thick heavy bass with lots of slaps and pops (i want average joe listener to KNOW which instrument is the bass)
Lots of tribal/tom sounding drum beats, heavy purposefull riffs.
Powerfull Melodic driven Vocals, a scream here n there, range limitless. lots of lows, few accented highs, n everywhere inbetween.

lookin for Bass, Drummer, and 2 Guitarists... would LOVE to find 2 lead guitarists... but i'll be lucky if i can find that one.

i understand that if you're good then u have an ego... but lets try to use that to pump up the gigs and promote, and not be a jackass.

ok, if it wasnt hard enough allready... it gets tougher for me to find people here.

Must have pro gear. and you know what that means. big and loud enough to sound fantastic when mic'd
Professional Attitude. dont need suit and tie... but no drug, girl, or dramma problems. treat this like a fun as hell job you want to keep.
Rock/Metal style look. height/weight proportionate, dress like a fucking bad ass at shows.

want to go big, have fun, make money, be dedicated... and most of all... make amazing music.

if there are any of you left that read this whole thing, and fit the part and are still interested... please shoot me an email or give me a call.

nice practice area, no charge, in Frisco/Little elm area.

I've done it all from practicing in a shed, to studio recording, to touring the country. I can play to a click, CAN COUNT (sorry, musicians that can't count should quit now), and a great song writing help from behind a drum set.
I can play guitar, just a little bt of piano, and I've got a decent voice. I have been recording my own music lately and I am pretty proud of it, but playing with other musicians is a bit more fun.
I can play rock, hip hop, country, or just whatever. I have played it all. I listen to just about anything even though I do prefer rock.

BRAND NEW NEVER USED

Winston Deluxe Student Flute

Features:
• Open Hole
• Offset G
• Split E Mechanism
• Multi Coat silver Plated Head
• Body & Foot
• Case Included
• Multi-Coat Plating refers to a special plating process that we use to enhance the tone quality of our instruments
• The tone will be fuller and richer at all dynamic levels
• Offset G Key is important for young players because it allows for a small hand to reach the G key with greater ease
• As they become more comfortable with their finger placement, the player may want to move onto an In-line G key design type flute
• This feature is typically found on more advanced or professional instruments
• Split E Mechanism is intended to improve the pitch and control of the high E
• This note is problematic for most flutists and is corrected by having a split E key mechanism
• Available on our offset G type design flutes
• The split E mechanism closes off the upper G keys, which in turn forces the air to flow through the lower tone hole
• This process of redirecting the airflow will improve the centering of the pitch and the overall control of the note

We have this and many other Band, Orchestra and other musical needs such as reeds, mouth pieces, rags, drums and drum sets, acustical and electric guitars etc.

Industrial Drummer Wanted

Quasi-industrial rock band seeks drummer. As far as what we're looking for in a drummer, think Foetus, Ministry (between Rape & Honey and Psalm 69), Skinny Puppy, Pigface, Cop Shoot Cop, Thrill Kill Kult, Neubauten and the like. We're also big fans of folks like Rowland Howard and Townes Van Zandt, Alabama 3 and Leonard Cohen. We're all responsible adults (with cars and real jobs), and we'd prefer that you be one as well. We're also open to triggers and electronic components in drum kits, or just giant sheets of metal. We've been rehearsing for a while with electronics, but we don't want to do that live.
